1. Pick the video
On Home, open Reference. Then:- Paste any URL, then Use link. One public video from YouTube (a video or a Short), TikTok, Instagram or X, up to 30 minutes, or a published HyperFrames project.
- Upload your reference: drop a file from your computer.
- Pick a reference from the feed beside it, videos made to be remixed (also on Home as Remix from inspiration).
2. The app reads it and picks the way
The app watches the reference and decides how to remake it:- A person talking to camera becomes Copy editing style: your video gets its cuts, captions and effects, with your footage or an AI avatar.
- Graphics and animation with nobody on camera becomes a Video brief: it recreates the motion with your topic and files.
3. Say what it’s about
For Copy editing style, the app asks Who’s on camera?- Upload your own takes. Add Editing instructions if you want, for example “Cut the pauses, keep it under 30 seconds”.
- An AI avatar: your photo or a HeyGen presenter. Say what the avatar should say; a sentence or two is enough.
4. Swap what should be yours
What to swap lists the parts the app found in the reference, each with where it appears, for example “Your opening question 0:00-0:02” or “Your website URL 0:02-0:05”. Choose how to fill each:
Choose a brand kit for the video, or No brand kit. Your workspace default stays as you set it. Then Continue;
Framey may ask a question or two about anything the video leaves open.
